D. Stephenson Construction is providing Construction Manager at Risk services for the Palm Beach County Library System with their 18th library location, the Canyon Branch. Located in the Canyon Town Center at Boynton Beach Boulevard and Lyons Road, the new library will serve the needs of this area’s growing community. This project is being developed in close proximity to the new Canyon District Park. This construction of the more than 33,000 square feet concrete masonry and steel structure library will be a brand-new facility, which will provide traditional library services, surface parking and site improvements. The Building will provide ample space for print and media collections, a large multipurpose area that will be used for library events, community meetings, and a variety of seating areas throughout the facility. Special features of this library include a drive-up materials return, a Teen Room, a Collaboration Space, a separate Children’s activity and event area, and a CreationStation makerspace area. Technology will play an important role in the new building and space will be devoted to computer workstations for online searching and application use. Flexible furnishings will be used where possible to allow for space multi-functionality.
