D. Stephenson Construction, Inc. provided CM at Risk Services for the new
construction of the Florida Memorial University Multipurpose Athletic and Wellness Education Center. The overall design objective for this project was to develop an athletic and wellness education facility which provides an environment for students and faculty to not only practice and hold competitive games but also to enjoy, interact and learn, in order to enhance their experience on the Florida Memorial University Campus in the City of Miami Gardens. It was also designed to permit the use of the neighboring community. The construction system was designed to be tilt-up on the exterior, and steel columns and beams supporting steel open-web floor and roof systems. The running track on the concourse level and fixed seating sections rest on a concrete slab, and the roofing was designed to be 2-ply membrane over light weight concrete on metal deck. The building is served by the chill water lines running close to the west property line.
